Limericks allow us to all
Write verses unique, though quite small.
'Bout the folks that you meet
On a writing site - Sweet!
Since joining, I've just had a ball!

I chat every day on this site,
I read and review and I write
Poems happy and sad,
Some good and some bad,
And kind friends tell me if they're alright.

I don't know just where I would be,
If it were not for WDC.
You make spirits rise,
From low up to highs,

In Bucyrus, there dwelt a young bard
who banged on her keyboard quite hard.
She pummeled all day,
creating, she'd say,
a masterpiece; though it was marred:

Although it was brilliant in plot,
the characters, frankly, were not.
The publisher said,
"This will sell when you're dead!
Come back when there's depth in the lot."

So, the diligent bard from Bucyrus,
to acquire more gold than King Midas,
pounded more words,
had to stop! 'Twas absurd:
She'd developed acute tendonitis.

A gent we call StoryMaster
deemed writing sites a disaster.
" It must cease and desist! "
he surmised of all this,
" The Mistress... I'll run it past her! "

Soon the two found themselves pairing,
minds set and bravely declaring,
"An oasis we'll build
for Word Warriors skilled...
a niche for caring and sharing!"


Seven years past, it's still shining,
talents and friendships divining;
known as Writing.com,
their site's simply Da Bomb...
pinnacles reached ~ and still climbing!

To begin, fill a quill and collect
All good words that your skill can select.
Then decide which get used
And divide those refused,
Taking care that each verb is direct.

When reviewers declare they're amused,
Be aware that no fault is excused.
Sharp-eyed writers inspect,
Implied errors detect,
And discern where ill tales get confused.

Yet unsatisfied, rewrite, correct,
Provide ways for loose ends to connect
Till description is fused
To thrill readers enthused
By the flair of your perfect effect.
