Greetings Members,

The default setting for our "Site Navigation" menus has changed to require a click to open them. The automatic mouseover pop out of the menus can be a bit annoying and "in the way" at times, so we've made this a global change to the site.

If you liked it the old way, FEAR NOT! We've added a new Preference for members who'd like them to work on the old Mouse Over, rather than new click...

You can set this Preference by going to:
My Account *Right* Edit Preferences and look for:
                    Navigation: Click or Mouse Over

Best wishes,
~~SM

Greetings Members,

Previewing is one of the features we hoped to add to our new email system... and we're pleased to announce that it is now in place for your use! The new Preview feature is available to those members with an Upgraded Membership or above.

Note that previewing is not available for HTML formated emails that do not include "Plain Text" formatting as well. Most all Writing.Com emails should preview just fine, so this HTML issue will mostly occur for some emails from off-site. (I don't mean to sound technical - rest assured the system will tell you when a preview is not available. *Smile*)

While testing has been completed, we're sure there may be some problems. Please be sure to post in "Bug ReportingOpen in new Window. if you encounter any!

Thanks and enjoy!

Greetings Members!

We've just released an update to our Full Screen Edit system. Full screen editing is available to those members with a Premium Membership or above.

The update "smoothes" out the process of the "Save and Edit" button. So, rather reload the entire edit page with each save, losing your place within the document, the updated Save and Edit now submits the updates without reloading the page.

Confirmation of a completed save is displayed just above the "Save and Edit" button along with the WDC site time the update was completed. With this, your scroll position within the document edit area will be maintained, so re-editing is much quicker and easier.

Also now included within the Full Screen Editor is a "Select All" button which selects all the text within the edit area. This makes for easy "copy and paste" backups.

Don't have a Premium Membership? Please consider supporting Writing.Com by purchasing one today! *Smile* Visit "Our Shop" from the top of any page to move up your paid membership level.

Enjoy!

Greetings,

It's been long (very long) requested that we add a Preview function to the review area. I've been very much against this because I'd prefer people not spend "too much" time perfecting the look of a review and just the content across. Perfect looking reviews should not come at the expense of members doing less reviews because too much time is spent making sure each review looks just right.

However, I do understand that reviews can't be edited once sent, so a preview is a necessary tool. So, with a bit of reluctance, I'm adding the preview tool. I am hoping that the average reviewer does not lessen their reviewing quantities because their time is eaten up in the previewing and perfecting process.

Please don't let me down on this one... Get out there and review more! *Bigsmile*

The new Preview tool for reviews loads a dynamic preview of your review on the same page, just below the preview button.

I've also added a new Review Tool button below the review field. This allows you to pop open the review tool containing anything you've already entered into the review box. This is great for those reviews that end up a lot longer than you may have expected. Remember that the review tool provides an expanding text area to enter your review in, a spell checker, and even a draft storage feature allowing you to save a review and come back to it later.

Review On,

Greetings Members,

Based on member suggestions, the following six genres have been added to Writing.Com:

Contest Entry - for items entered into contests.

Dark - Dark fiction, dark fantasy, etc.

Folklore - Fairy Tale is a sub-genre of Folklore.

          Nonsense - That's absurd.

Pets - Those little loved ones.

Reviewing - For reviews, critiques, review forums, etc.

Be sure to edit your items and move any that you'd like to have placed in any of these new genres.
